A individual indicted with stalking Kate McCann reportedly left her a voicemail message which questioned: "what if I am Madeleine?"

Julia Wandelt, 24, who a jury heard has repeatedly declared she was the disappeared Madeleine McCann, and Karen Spragg are standing trial accused with stalking Kate and Gerry McCann from June 2022 and February the current year.

On Monday, Leicester Crown Court learned communication data and data retrieved from phones logged Ms Wandelt consistently requesting Madeleine's mother for a genetic test throughout 2023 and 2024.

Madeleine's vanishing in 2007 - at the age of three during a family holiday in Portugal - is one of the most widely reported investigations and is still unsolved.

One recorded message, shared in court, documented Ms Wandelt declaring: "I realize I'm overweight and plain like Madeleine was, but I believe what I believe."

While one recording of Ms Wandelt's monologues with Mrs McCann's voicemail said: "Imagine there is a tiny probability that I'm her? What happens next? Isn't that crucial for you?"

"I don't want money, I possess a living here in Poland, I only wish to know," she added.

The panel was informed that through emails, text messages and phone calls, Ms Wandelt requested a biological test, sent childhood photos to her phone in a bid to display a resemblance to Mrs McCann's disappeared daughter, and asserted to have "flashbacks" from a early life with the McCanns.

An intelligence analyst, an investigator with law enforcement who gathered the information, informed the court there "showed no any responses" from Mrs McCann.

Ms Wandelt furthermore contacted close associates of the McCanns, according to the phone records.

On 9 October 2024, Mr McCann responded to a call from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, saying she had "a wrong number."

That day Ms Wandelt deposited a message on Mrs McCann's voicemail stating "I will continue and I will prove my claim."

The court was informed the co-defendant struck up a association via internet with Ms Wandelt prior to assisting her on a appearance to the McCanns' home in that area in December 2024.

Communication data showed Mrs Spragg had reached out through messaging service to Mrs McCann to state the media had depicted Ms Wandelt as "mentally unstable" but that she deserved to be taken seriously in the time before the visit to Rothley, Leicestershire, in December 2024.

The court learned message exchanges between the two defendants, in last November, discussing trying to obtain Mrs McCann's biological evidence from her garbage or from utensils at a restaurant.

"We must take action," the co-defendant advised Ms Wandelt.

On the occasion of the visit to their home, the defendant dispatched a communication which stated: "We're currently positioned outside the McCanns' house with our vehicle dark like detectives.
