Exploring an Unique Steam Game Trial: Controlling a Piece of Feces with the Goal to Reach the Toilet
Steam Next Fest is now live, and players have encountered a variety of engaging independent titles. However, one is particularly notable for its offbeat concept. Titled Unko Technica, this old-school styled side-scrolling game includes a character that is literally a piece of poop attempting to navigate to a commode. For those curious, "Unko" means "poop."
How you interact is easy to grasp: you only need a single jump button. Across 150 levels, encounter mini-bosses and access a store to buy skins for your poop character.
Execute your jumps with caution, since one wrong move forces beginning again. Bounce on air pockets to launch the poop upward, traverse disappearing ledges, and activate triggers to unlock new areas. Collect coins and use them on challenging levels as things ramps up.
Visually, the experience shows off neon environments and a killer music score. The simple art featuring moving basic polygons could recall players of beloved games like Earthbound.
While it's tough to think of other games where you control a piece of feces, interactive entertainment frequently featured scatological themes. As an illustration, in Death Stranding, players craft grenades from character droppings. Examples include Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved use manure as soil enrichment. Naturally, such content appears extensively in Obsidian's adventure The Stick of Truth.
Regardless of its goofy idea, Unko Technica has already earned impressive awards, including taking top honors at a major publisher's game competition in 2023. The demo is available now on Steam, with the full game scheduled to launch on Steam this November.
