Trevoh Chalobah Expected to Replace Guehi in England Selection

Trevoh Chalobah in action

Trevoh Chalobah emulated his brother Nathaniel in playing for England, emerging as the twenty-first duo of brothers to play for the England side.

The Chelsea defender is likely to join up with the England squad to cover for injured Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi.

The 26-year-old is due to meet up with the squad for England's final World Cup qualifying matches against Serbia and Albania, but it has still not been confirmed.

The Three Lions have already booked their place for the upcoming tournament.

Chalobah was given his initial call-up under England manager Thomas Tuchel in the month of May and then played his first game against Senegal.

In the month of September, Tuchel remarked Chalobah was unlucky to be left out from the squad for qualifying games against Andorra and Serbia, and also did not select him for the following October matches.

Tuchel has been an important presence in Chalobah's progress, having given him his Chelsea first appearance in the year 2021.

Chalobah has played in all but four matches for Chelsea this season, with the club in third place in the Premier League, in the Carabao Cup last eight and in the league phase of the Champions League.

Guehi suffered a foot problem in Crystal Palace's Conference League win over AZ Alkmaar recently.

There are set to be further call-ups to the team. Newcastle manager Eddie Howe has said that both attacker Anthony Gordon (hip) and shot-stopper Nick Pope (concussion symptoms) will be unavailable from the national team.
